Intimacy & Relationship Issues


Intimacy and relationship issues often occur due to a variety of issues ranging from communication to conflict to lack of sexual desire.  A satisfactory relationship is often comprised of:

  • Trust

  • Mutual Respect

  • Communication

Mariana Bockarova, Ph. D, wrote an article on the aspect of intimacy in relationships for Psychology Today. Bockarova highlighted the seven fundamental elements that define an intimate relationship. These include:

  1. Knowledge

  2. Interdependence

  3. Care

  4. Trust

  5. Responsiveness

  6. Mutuality

  7. Commitment
